From the Director…

“With her roots firmly planted in the modern musical idioms of the millennium, Shoshana gracefully channels the spirit of a bygone musical era with a craft and effortlessness that will take your breath away – truly bridging that ever broadening gap between the classic and the contemporary.”

- Dir. Billy Porter

MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST:

shoshana-bean-3-for-internet.jpgSHOSHANA BEAN grew up in Portland, Oregon. She attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater and wasted no time in heading to New York City.

There she was cast in the Off-Broadway revival of “GODSPELL” and with the release of the cast album, which included her rousing rendition of “Bless the Lord,” she had earned herself a spot on NYC’s musical theater map. Shoshana made her Broadway debut in the critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning original cast of “HAIRSPRAY.” Following her two year run in “HAIRSPRAY”, Bean began a five-month stint as standby for Tony Award winner Idina Menzel in the hit Broadway musical “WICKED.”  In January 2005, Shoshana took over the role of Elphaba until January 2006.

In Dec ’08, Bean released her debut album “Superhero” which showcases original songs written by Bean and classics like Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way.” “Superhero” debuted at #5 on iTunes.
