“If you’re one of the lucky few in life, from time to time, you get the chance to experience the beginning of something big. Such is the feeling one gets when watching Ryan Raftery’s gloriously irreverent one-man show.” – gaywired.com

Upright Cabaret presents Ryan Raftery & Friends: A SOLO ACT at Upright Cabaret at Mark’s Restaurant. The show that has been “changing lives bi-weekly” in the basement of a NYC bistro finally comes to Los Angeles…at another restaurant! Brooklyn native Raftery sings everything from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Rihanna, interspersed with tales of his moving friendship with a hooker in the Deep South, his fabled rivalry with multi Grammy Award-winner Natalie Cole and much more. No singer alive can compete with the glorious clanging of knives and forks better than Ryan Raftery!

raftery.jpgRyan Raftery recently moved home to New York City after a stint in L.A. that included roles on Ugly Betty, What I Like About You and Malcolm in the Middle.  He also appeared in several succesful theatrical productions; most notably Bruce Kimmel’s What If? at the Hudson Theatre and Ann E. Wrecksick and the Odyssey of the Bulumic Orphans where he spontaneously amused and horrified theatregoers as “Lil’ E”.  It was his participation in a workshop reading of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman’s (creators of Hairspray) new musical, Catch Me if You Can, that convinced Raftery to come home to New York to pursue his career in the theatre.
